How to access Example Site

  2. Verify your download

    3. You should use GnuPG to verify that your download wasn't tampered with.

    You can download GnuPG here.

    Open a terminal to run these commands.

    You should see the following:

    The output should say "Good signature":

    Notice that there is a warning because you haven't assigned a trust index to this person. This means that GnuPG verified that the key made that signature, but it's up to you to decide if that key really belongs to the developer. The best method is to meet a Tor Browser developer in person and exchange key fingerprints.

  3. Run Tor Browser

    4. You can now run Tor Browser by opening your Downloads folder and clicking on TorBrowser-6.5.2-osx64_<language>.dmg. (On recent versions of OS X, you might get a warning that it's from an "unidentified developer" — you can get around this complaint by control-clicking and selecting "open".) Drag the included file into your Applications folder and you will have a Tor Browser application in your chosen language that you can pin on your Dock.


  4. Navigate to Example Site

    5. Just enter http://example.onion/ in Tor Browser's address bar.


    You can bookmark Example Site or make it your homepage to come back without needing to remember the address.
